Radon is a natural radioactive gas that may cause cancer if you're exposed to it for a long time. It cannot be seen and has no odor or taste, which makes it impossible to detect its presence. It is the second leading cause of lung cancer in America and claims more than 20,000 lives annually. The EPA strongly encourages people to test for radon in their home and take the necessary steps for radon mitigation, when the level touches 4 pCi/L.

  • How Does Radon Get Into a Home?

Radon, being a gas, seeps from the ground into the air inside a building. It makes its way into the building through the foundation (crawl space, basement) by taking any of the following paths: cracks in basement floors, drains, sump pumps, exposed soil, construction joints (mortar, floor-wall), and loose fitting pipes.
